Flip This House
This week Pastor Anthony Carter shared a powerful message from the book of 1 Thessalonians 4: 1-8, as he preaches this series from this chapter, a few things were mentioned towards Christians living a life pleasing to God. As we live in this present world we are to live a life as if we are hungry for the will of God. We are all seeking what’s the will of God in our lives and in verse 3 of this passage it’s a clear answer to what God’s will is for our lives. That we are to live Holy as Christ is Holy. This pertains to our sanctification in every aspect of our lives. We should continually be asking God to order our steps daily.
Oh I am reminded of my dear friends who ask me over and over again what are my thoughts about God’s will for their lives. At times we would dive into debates and go back and forth about this issue. Never taking the time to look into the text and see that the answer is right there. Sometimes I wonder if they thought of me as some type of fortune teller. I must admit that my answers were merely just read His word and you will see. I've never actually directed them to this verse throughout the course of our conversation. Our sanctification being in the will of God for our life is sufficient.
As he went into the remainder of the text we are challenged to obtain self control and tempering our will to live holy. Keeping every thought captive having control of our words and actions are seen as we live out this Christian life. As we sat eagerly listening to this message you could almost hear a pin drop except that our sanctuary is carpeted. Christ being the head of our lives we should demonstrate this daily even when we are tempted to slip up.
Flip this house was an illustration used in his message in reference to our physical bodies. When we encounter a new life in Christ He not only enters in but there is a cleansing process being taken place as well. He cleans us up from our old ways in order to sanctify us so we can present ourselves holy to Him. Knowing that this old life or house was abused by many, torn, abandoned, left for demolition the moment Christ sets in all things become new. Unlike flip this house, it’s not for sale.
Oh my friends if you could only understand “How Deep The Father’s Love for Us” this cleansing, sanctification, process is rejuvenating to the heart, mind and soul. May you find peace in your sufferings and joy in your praises to our God and Savior.
