The Red Sea
Many of us are aware of Moses crossing the red sea with the children of Israel in the Old Testament. They fled Egypt from being enslaved for many years under the Pharaoh. They walked until they were faced with sea in front of them and the Egyptian army was behind them. This caused them to be in a moment of panic. There is a lesson for all of us to learn here when our own backs are up against the wall and we simply run out of solutions as to what our next best move should be.
A friend of mine went on a rant on social media expressing his frustration about the hurts he and his wife face. Although he was seeking some comfort in his writing, his wording was offensive to many of his readers. I could almost see them at the red sea blurting out at Moses. Why did you bring us here to face this? My friend’s comment was directed at his creator about their suffering. Not realizing that it is God who is the end all be all. In other words His sovereignty is what we as Christians need to be aware of in our walk. God does whatever He feels and wills in our lives.
It’s difficult for many to embrace but it is truth in itself. We can rant, ask questions, complain, or even yell at times but we must be careful not to throw our fist up at God. Maybe if my friend would seek council from others who knows how to overcome their particular situation, he would find ways to cross his own red sea. I know this is easier said than done but there are many who have in fact cross over without cursing God.
So I say to those who’s backs are against the wall whether it be in a form of not graduating, being single, losing a spouse, a child, a house, a job, a position, barren, a car, a divorce settlement and the list goes on. Do not be quick to vent at the wrong person. You may think its Moses but be aware that God used him in a mighty way to lead his people to cross that sea in front of them.
I will pray for my friend and his wife for God to surround them with people to walk with them during this difficult time and for their hearts to be calm when they are faced with the red sea in front of them.
